I thought today I'd talk about some of my favorite movies and books, in hopes to give some of you ideas what to do with your Spring Break, or if you have free time. Let's start with movies!
The Illusionist: This stars Paul Giamatti, Edward Norton, and Jessica Biel. FANTASTIC MOVIE!!! It's set in older Austria (I think), and this Duchess Von Teschen falls in love with Eduard, who works as a carpenter. They want to run away together (they're both like 15 or 16), but she's royal, and he's not. He disappears, and rumors fly that he now works as a magician. The movie is actually how they get back together, and end up HAPPILY EVER AFTER!
Big Fish: This movie is about a father and a son getting to know each other, even after the son is married and moved away. His dad tells these outrageous tales to the son's wife, and his son hates him for it. The dad does die, and everyone who shows up resembles a character from the dad's story. Is it possible these things aren't as fictional as they seem?
BOOKS!
Legend of Holly Clause: This book is about how a boy asks Santa what he wants for Christmas. Santa wishes for a daughter, and he gets one. Her name is Holly Clause (in case you didn't know). Well, it's almost like sleeping beauty. The bad guy (Herikhan) appears and says "Oh, you didn't invite me!" And he's cursed, by the way, and needs a pure heart to free him. So, he encases little Holly's heart in ice, and she can't be anywhere near heat, or she'll faint. This book is about how she needs to break the spell, and find her true love. SPOILER ALERT: she ends up loving/marrying the little boy that asked what Santa wanted. (He's like, 10 years older than she is)
Fairies of DreamDark: This is about a great evil coming to the fairies of DreamDark. There's one who is a warrior, and was blessed with many things when she was born. She has all these cool things, like transforming into a sparrow, and using 'glyphs', which are things that can help then enhance their powers. She does find 'true love', another fairy who has tattoos all over him that move.
Well, that's all for right now. Sorry I don't have the authors on them, but they're really good.
