Celtic Woman

Today was the science fair. I got to skip one day of school, and sit around on my fat butt, doing nothing (except talking once in a great while). Had pizza and Dr. Pepper for lunch. It was awesome!

*Sigh* I did it. I joined Facebook.

It was not an easy decision. My friends pressured me into doing it, while my brothers were "NO! DON'T DO IT! DON'T GIVE INTO TEMPTATION!!!" So I asked my mom. It really was no big deal. I didn't care if I could or not (that is to say, if Momma Bear and The Big Kahuna said no, no biggie)

So after much deliberation, I received an answer (from Momma Bear and The Big Kahuna): Sure. Go ahead. Knock. YOURSELF. OUT. So I did. (Not knocked myself out, but joined Facebook) I am no longer allowed to say that word a-loud (ha ha). But anyway...

In YW, we are starting a 'program' of sorts, and it is being 'kicked-off' by-ME! It's called the 'Adopt-A-Grandma Program'. Wayyy excited. We're getting girls ages 12-17 to visit older women, especially some who are either A-Widowed, and/or B-Don't have kids at home. I'm really excited about it. Each girl will pick a partner, and then a *GRANDMA*, and they will make a card and then write a small note to their *GRANDMA*, to let them know what we are doing. One of the girls (she's about 15) will give us some hints on how to make CUTE cards, and then help us. I'm WAYYYY excited for these girls to be getting involved in service. This is what makes the world go 'round (besides love).

Anyway, I have a video for us today! Everybody say yay (YAY!!!)

This is Celtic Woman. Perhaps you've heard of them, and perhaps not. They're a group of woman from (surprise!) Ireland, and they sing Irish folk songs, as well as some other classics (Over the Rainbow, You Raise Me Up, etc, etc...) Throughout the whole thing, women have come and gone, but there is usually 4 or 5. One of them started when she was 15! She's still pretty young (only 16 or 17... maybe 18), but she's slightly bigger and has REALLY long hair... You'll recognize her. This just goes to show you do NOT judge by what's on the outside, but what's on the inside (so to speak)... their voices! They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL women, and sing BEAUTIFULLY! One of them is a violin player, and she makes me soooooooo jealous, because she has AMAZING violin skills. She's brilliant. This song is "The Sky, The Dawn, and the Sun" or something like that. Watch the violin player as she just JUMPS around, and still plays the violin. Her hair is long, and she keeps flicking her head to either A-keep her hair out of the way, or B-for fun. Who knows? They're amazing.

Saturday

So... the weekend was good. In Girl's basketball/churchball, we kicked butt!!!! It's the end of the 'season', and we had not lost a game. Saturday, we went up against another ward who had also not lost a game. We mopped the floor with 'em, 38-19. I wasn't there, but I heard about it. See? They do just FINE without me!

I was away, cleaning a house for a lady that I haven't been to in AGES. It was interesting to return, because her little boy knows me (he's about 2 years old), and the moment I step into that door, "IT'S CASSIE! IT'S CASSIE!!!" Cute.

Then, I came home, ate a quick lunch and started cleaning my own house (well, a little bit). My friends came at about 3, and didn't leave until 10:30. PM. It was great fun. We talked about the woes and sadness of getting pregnant early-say, high school-(NO EXPERIENCE, I SWEAR!) can just be so sad. They told of a story they had heard about a girl who was in one of their classes and OBVIOUSLY pregnant, and the teacher says, "Well, what happened?", and the girl's response was, "I don't know." We laughed. HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW?

My friend joked, "Oh, I don't know. I just reached into the fridge and pulled out the WRONG thing-oops! Prego sauce!" Once again, we all laughed.

***SPOILER ALERT***
We also watched 'Leap Year'. Very cute! I LOVE Amy Adams. There was this one part in the movie when she's drunk as a fish on the beach, and the guy taking her to Dublin comes to tell her the bus is here. By this point in the movie, they're slowly falling in love. So she walks up to him, and puts her arms around his neck, and is babbling about WHO KNOWS WHAT, and she's getting closer, and you're pretty sure they're going to kiss, when "BLECH!!!" Right on his new shoes. (she vomited) It was really gross, but really funny at the same time. Of course (DOUBLE SPOILER ALERT!), they get married. So we told each other, if you're going to marry a cute guy, right before the wedding, make sure you throw up on his shoes. It was a HILARIOUS and CUTE movie. Loved it.

Have a good week, y'all!!!

Mormons and Flowers

Good day, Earthlings. It's been ten days since I last blogged, and many a-thing has happened since I last left you. For example, Tacoman turned 14, which caused great excitement in my dwelling. For YW, I had a huge leadership meeting which lasted 5 hours. It was FABULOUS, mainly because I got to eat lots of skittles. I have since been bowling, and I was LAME. (Say what you will, I came in 3rd out of 4 of us).

In my internship, the lady I was working with for a while told me to get a job there, because she was very impressed with how I did. So I'm going to try, but there is a new place just around the corner from my house, and it's a boarding and daycare (I think) place for dogs. I'm going to try, but they won't be open for a while. What the heck, right?

I have pretty much discovered where I want to go to college, and it is on the OTHER SIDE of the continent. I love it for many reasons:

1-It's on the OTHER SIDE of the continent (when you live with three younger brothers, you understand)
2-It's an ALL-GIRL SCHOOL!!! (my dad approves for this reason, as well)
3-The average class size is about 12
4-Did I mention it's on the OTHER SIDE of the continent?
5-They are the number one college in the USA to deal with equestrians.

As you can see, I am pretty sure this is the college for me!

Anyway, on to the next subject: Mormons CAN'T send flowers! You've probably seen this video, but I saw it and I thought it was pretty funny.

Enjoy!

St. Paddy's Day

I never really was a - "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, SWEETHEART!" Mostly because A-No sweetheart, and B-I'm not really a touchy-feely person, unless I am extremely close with someone, i.e. my parents, my grandparents, and a few select friends. And I have recently become WAYYY interested in Ireland, as in I'm teaching myself Irish (not going too well, though). But guess what? I hate the color green. I mean, I GUESS it's okay, but for the most part-UH UH! No way, Jose! Thus, the change in the blog. Also, I love bunnies. And Jelly-Beans. YUMMY!!!! (Jelly beans, not bunnies)

Anyway, today's little music vid involves JOSH GROBAN!!!!! YAY!!! Fabulous singer, that man (although, I heard he makes funny faces when he sings). This song is titled "Don't Give Up (You Are Loved)", and it's for some of us who, on occasion, cannot seem to pick ourselves up. I love this video, and it is extremely well put together. Two Enthusiastic Thumbs-UP!!!!

Really good video. Makes me cry EVERY. TIME. No lie.

The Remedy

Okay, it's the same day, but I just found a Jason Mraz video, "The Remedy"(Emma, this is for you!) It's almost an official video, but... I don't know. Anyway, ENJOY!

There's the website. Sorry, it won't let me embed!

Meanie-faces! :(

Uprising-The Muse

Long time no see... WHOO-HOO!!! Got some stuff to catch up on. First of all, I officially started my internship, and I just have to say WOO-HOO!!! Can I get a WOOT WOOT! (WOOT WOOT!!!) I got to play with dogs, and help give meds to some... and they PAY people to do this? (Just FYI, I'm interning for a veterinarian). Oh man. I had SOOOOOO much fun. AND I get to go back tomorrow. I'm really liking this semester. I came home from school yesterday and was just HYPED all day, and just loaded with adrenaline. Oh man. So going back tomorrow.

I have to take the ACT this Saturday. Blech. I'm going to be there for like, four hours, NO LIE. But they send my scores to some colleges that I asked them to send them to, which is pretty sweet. I'm still looking for colleges, but ya know... it never hurts.

Oh, and for all high schoolers over here at Candy Land High School--SOPHOMORE APPRECIATION WEEK!!! Give me another WOOT WOOT!!! (WOOT WOOT!!!) That means they have to take the UBSCT, a basic skills test, basically, and it's required for almost everyone in my lovely state to take it (tee-hee!). You can graduate without it, but on your 'fancy' little diploma thingy, it says that you didn't pass it (if you didn't pass it). Everyone who is a sophomore has to take it. If you don't pass it your sophomore year, then you have to go back your junior and (if necessary) your senior year. The subjects are English, Math, and Science (one per day, which means three days of late start).

So each year, the first week in February, this year on Tuesday, Wed-nes-day, and Thursday, it is late start for everyone EXCEPT sophomores, who have to come in at 7:30 AM and take it. Everyone else who has taken it or passed it, school starts at 9:30 AM. WHOO-HOO!!!! Oh man, this week is just shaping up to be my week. Lovin' it!

Anyway, here's the Muse, with "Uprising". My dad and I heard this song on the radio, and we argued for the longest time whether it was The Killers or Keane. Boy were we wrong (nice to know he wasn't right, though). Anyway, it is kind of a weird video and a weird song, but I am pretty weird (IF I may say so myself.

Enjoy!
