March 27, 2009

So Wednesday, for my church group (mutual, we call it), we had something we call 'New Beginnings'. It's a kickoff to the new year (three months late), and they tell us what we're doing for the current year. Well, it had a cowboy theme. They told us to dress like cowboys (if we could), and the invitations had all the 'Texas talk", if you will. "Sloppy Joe fixin's", "dang good time" (yes, they put 'dang'), "hoot-n-nanny" (however you spell that)... yeah, it was a little creepy. Well, we got there (me and my parents), and they had bales of hay (which they weren't supposed to have), and even a saddle. Sloppy joes were okay, but I wasn't too hungry. Anyway....

So I'm supposed to go swimming this weekend with my friends... might not happen, but oh, well. Spring break is comming up. YES!!! One whole week off for me. well, I still have to work, but that's okay. It's only in the afternoon. I'm trying out for choir. I'm trying to get into having an internship, at a vetirinarian's. It'll be exciting. Next year, junior year. YES!!! One more year, and I'm a senior, then I'm off to college. ANYWAY....

Well, that's all I have for now. Have a good weekend.

Jelly Beans and School

It's the end of the term today. I turned something in to my teacher, but he hasn't put it in yet. I'm not going to hassle him, though, because i don't want to stress him out. Being the end of the term, I know that a lot of kids are going to bother him about turning stuff in, and I just don't want to put anymore stress on him. That's just rude.

I'm so glad it's the end of the term. Next Monday, I get a day off. This should be interesting. My youngest brother (Pingu) gets to go to school still. See, he's in a year-round school, so he just had the last three weeks off. He did absolutely nothing (that's not true-he helped clean around the house... occasionally). So now, Tacoman, Mr. T, and I get to stay home and relax. He's not too happy about it, but, oh well. Anyway...

I need to get out of here. Does anyone have any good suggestions for anywhere to go? Out of state, out of town.... heck, just out of my house! I'm a captive of my own house!!!!

I have an unusual addiction: I love candy. While it may not sound too unusual, that's actually not the worst part! I found if you stuck me in a pet store with Jelly beans (the candy), Goldfish (the little cheese crackers), and water (this is all a never-ending supply), I would live. I love Jelly beans. Any Jelly beans. I currently have Jolly Ranchers and Starburst Jellybeans. They're quite good.

Well, I hope you all enjoy your weekend. I hope I will, too.

Grades and Pets

I just have to say I'm amazing. I just looked at my grades, and I found out that I have an A in every class (well, an A- in some classes, but still!), and I did NOT think I was going to pull it off. It is a MIRACLE. Or, my teachers just love me. Either way.

I'm hoping to see my peeps this weekend. We want to have a movie weekend. Of course, at this point, it may or may not happen. Does anyone know of any good movies? Let me know, because I am DYING to see a new movie, but it has to be good. But not 'Marley and Me", because I have lived that, and it is NOT fun. Sure, maybe the movie lookes cute (my friend explained it to me), but once you get in that position, it's like "Okay, I'm done. Let's move onto the next thing."

I miss that dog. Her name was Amber. She was a golden lab, and she had another breed in her, too, like Great Dane or something. But she's gone, and I don't know where she is. I really miss her. We now have another mutt, an American Eskimo dog, named Raffie (my dad named him). He's not too smart, but cute nonetheless. He's okay... I guess. Not even as cute as my pet rabbit, Presto. Now, SHE'S a cutie.

Karma

I have to talk about a recent experience I had when I was with my family. It was a Saturday, and we had been doing a lot of work. Dad decided to take us out to eat, and it was at an Atlantis Burger, just down the street from my neighborhood. While sitting and looking outside, I noticed a rather large man walking past one of those orange construction signs. He was wearing a bright orange shirt as well.

"Whoa!" I remarked at how bright his shirt was. Well, my brother decided to mimic me, and he also said "Whoa!", but he didn't know I was remarking on the color of the shirt. "That guy has a bright orange shirt!" I exclaimed. This is TacoMan speaking, and he starts speaking, but doesn't say what I say, and goes on a different way. "That guy is really fat." I turned to scowl at him."That was rude!" I tell him. "Now, you're going to have bad karma."

TacoMan took a while to look at the man, and then proceeded to say, "That's a lot of karma."

Which led to a lot of laughs from my family's table. Everyone in the restaurant looked at us, but I didn't care. That's what you get when you live with a comedian.

It's the Weekend!

Oh, Hallejulah! It's Friday! I never thought I'd make it. This week has just been crazy. We had several things going on this week, and I wasn't able to make it to everything. This Wednesday, for example, I had a choir competition. I got an eye infection about a week ago, and it got really bad on Wednesday. So, I had to go to the doctor (which ended up being about a 15 minute visit). Well, I wasn't able to make it to the Church meeting I had to go to. Which was okay. I kind of didn't want to go.

Anyway, I've been getting home from work a little later, and yesterday (thursday) my brother had a band competition to go to as well (this is Mr. T, and he plays the trombone). I wasn't able to make it to that, which is okay. I hope he'll forgive me.

So that's how my week was. I hope your week was (if anything) better. But I'm looking forward to next week, which hopefully won't be so busy.

Name of the... Gender?

Everyone likes games, right? Well, so do we in my family (except for one). We agree that some of the best are road games. We have one certain 'road game' in particular that is a favorite of everyone's. It's called "Guess my Gender". We will simply drive down road (main street, deserted road, YOU NAME IT!), and will pass people and 'guess their gender'. Some are easy, simply because of what they're wearing, how they're walking, or what they're doing. Others.... not so easy.

The other day, for example, my dad treated us to Chuck-a-Rama, and we were coming down the road when, lo, and behold, we come across a biker. Here is a description: the person is wearing a baseball cap, in which coming out of that little hole in the back is all this long, curly hair. First response: GIRL! (Woman, whatever). Well, we go down (this is the back of the biker, remember); dark green windbreaker, too loose to notice the (if any) curves; shorts, but not short-shorts. Again, too lose to notice if they have major ripped thighs, or if there is 'flabbiness' (yes, that's a word in my family dictionary). Next: the calves. Well, this was the hard part. If i remember correctly, they were somewhat musculary calves, although I must say a girl can have muscular calves, right? Well, I also vaguely recollect HAIR. And not the thin, 'I haven't shaved in 2 days' hair. No, we're talkin' caveman 'Are you wearing furry pants' hair. (Note: I may be exxagerating)

I don't remember after all if it was a man or a woman, but just remembering that biker gives me chills. We have encountered many such people in grocery stores, stores like Home Depot, the library, even, I suppose, school. It's a little scary the way people are dressing these days.

Cop Day

Well, to begin with, I hope everyone had a good weekend. I did. Next, very exciting news: I got my license! Well, I actually received it last Monday, but I just started using the car (momma bear's car) to take to school. Now, I don't need a ride. I was usually late, anyway. I wasn't exactly supposed to take it on Monday, seeing as I had left my parking pass sticker in my locker. My mom said until I brought it home, I couldn't take the car to school. Monday morning came, and guess what? Momma Bear and the Big Kahuna are still in bed. I wait until 7:10 (the tardy bell rings at 7:30) before I decide that my parents are NOT getting up, and I'm going to be late for school. Yes, I took the car. I drove around to the back of the school, where I'd be closer to my locker, ran inside, and got the sticker. I know, no drama. But, oh well. Oh, and just so you know, I did pay for that parking pass, all by myself. Shock and awe. Anyway...
Scary story: I went to school last Thursday (an A-day), and there are COPS. EVERYWHERE! Just a little scary. So, anyway... I manage to get to class, un-arrested (not that they'd arrest me for anything), and someone asked my World Civ. teacher what the heck the cops were there for. He didn't know. He even asked someone who usually knows, and THEY didn't know. Talk about communication. Anyway, this kid in my class decided to go ask one of the cops, make it look like he was getting a drink or something. So, that's what he did. Leaves class, and while we're waiting, we all decide to guess. My teacher told us that they probably were looking for someone, because if the school was in danger, we'd go into lock down, or we wouldn't have even come to school.
The kid who left comes back, and yes, it turns out they were looking for someone. Supposedly, they had the whole 'day-shift' of cops there.
"So," he says, "if anyone wants to go rob 7-11, now's the time." Ha ha, very funny. Well, we come back Monday (the next A-day), and it turns out the school WAS in trouble. The cops had been looking for someone, all right, but it was someone who had threatened to bring a gun to school or something like that (it was noisy, and I didn't hear everything). They did manage to find them (I hope), and yay, hooray! the school day was saved.
No, that's not what I call exciting. I'd call it disappointing. It'd be nice if I didn't have to go to school on Thursday. I appreciate no-school days, personally.
Anyway.... Until next time.

The Beginning

Good day, Readers! This is my first blog, so you must excuse me because I will probably be messing around with the main page, and this first entry will be a little shorter than perhaps I'd like. I will be mentioning a few people along the ride such as: The Big Kahuna (dad), Mr. T (brother), Tacoman (other brother), and Pingu (last brother). Mom has yet to choose a name, so we may just call her 'Mom' for now.
I would like to take a moment to thank 'Mindless Banterer', who inspired me to begin a blog. Sometimes, I just get so frustrated with life, and I feel like I need to tell someone. Sometimes, that 'someone' happens to be mom or dad, and I think they get sick of after a little while (and that's okay if they do). Anyway, I will feel free to write about my opinions, although I'm not so good with politics, so I'll try and avoid that area. I'll also try and avoid offending people.
You'll find I'm a little... odd. Don't judge me. I'm just a little strange (aren't we all?). I hope you all have a good weekend, and we'll see you later!
